5.1      How to migrate data from version 5 to version 6?

The data format has changed with version 6, so the V5 can read data only from V5 and the V6 only from V6.
To convert (migrate) your old data in the V6 format properly the following steps are necessary:

1. DO NOT uninstall the V5 before all migration is finished.
2. Synchronize your data from all mobile versions and/or SiDiary-Online (SDO) to the V5 version on your PC.
3. Uninstall SiDiary V5 and all SiDiary data from your mobile devices
4. Install SiDiary V6 on your PC and start it. The migration-wizard will start automatically if he finds V5 data on your PC. If not: menu 'Tools ->Migration-Wizard'

 

With SiDiary 6 (from Version 6.0.1184) you can choose the program folder of the V5 (where SiDiary.exe is located) or the data folder from V5 (where the file SiDiaryProfile.dat is loacated) as target by using the button 'Browse'

 

 

5. Install SiDiary V6 on your mobile device (Cellphone, Smartphone or PPC). Start it there and register it like you have registered your PC.

 

 

6. Register SiDiary-Online (=SDO): on SDO under 'Profile ->License-key'). Then the commercials will disappear and you can sync more than one week.

 

 

6a. BEFORE the first synchronisation make sure that on SDO in the menu 'Extras' the Option 'Allow Synchronisation with SiDiary V6' is enabled and saved.
This step isn't necessary if you have registered first time with SDO after the 1st of July 2009!

 

 

7. In the PC version of V6 menu 'Extras ->SmartSync-Settings': for the Pocket PC or the Windows Smartphone set up the paths to the program folder and the data folder (for questions use the key F1 on your keyboard to use our excellent help function)

 

 

If you follow this steps properly you shouldn't be faced with any problems!
